Islamlar Village (known as Bodamya or Bodamia in ancient Greek times) is situated 7 kilometres from the centre of Kalkan within lush countryside, thanks to the plentiful supply of fresh mountain water. It’s altitude (700 metres above sea level) means that the temperature in this area is noticeably cooler than that in Kalkan, so in the height of the summer it’s a very comfortable place to be. Patara Beach and Kalkan Bay can be seen in the distance.
The village is famous for its trout farms and restaurants, which provide simple but fresh menus, featuring trout, salads, goats cheese, and local mezes usually followed by fresh fruit – delicious! The area also provides some great walking paths, within the forests surrounding the village, and the centre of Kalkan is just a 15 minute drive away.
Close to Islamlar, is the village of Uzumlu, which is a perfect choice for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the town. Its historic water mills are still standing and the area offers fabulous countryside views across to Patara Beach in the distance.
